Funky Funhouse 'Welcomes Heroes'

Funky Funhouse is first business in Cambridge to sign up ‘Heroes  Welcome’ scheme

Funky Funhouse, Cambridge’s, premier, children’s indoor activity/soft play centre is the first business in Cambridge pledging their support to the Armed Forces by signing up to the nationwide Heroes Welcome scheme.

Heroe’s Welcome is the brainchild of Afghanistan veteran and Territorial Army Major John Senior, and was first launched in April 2008 in Scarborough.

Mr Senior, a restaurateur, felt compelled to act following the treatment of Corporal Tomos Stringer who, while helping to organise the funeral of a friend killed in action in Afghanistan, was turned away from a local hotel.

The scheme has now spread to 50 towns in 27 different regions from Blackpool to Brighton and Stockport to Great Yarmouth and now Funky Funhouse are bringing it to Cambridge.

Where displayed the Heroes Welcome logo shows support for British Armed Forces Personnel and indicates a warm welcome, service up grade, special acknowledgement or even a little discount as appropriate.

Susan McCormick, Co-owner of Funky Funhouse commented “The Funky Funhouse Team have the up most respect for the armed forces and their families.  Funky Funhouse is a place where families can come to enjoy quality time to play, get a bite to eat and relax together.  Given the number of US military bases in the surrounding area, we are aspiring to take the Heroe’s Welcome scheme a step further and offer discounts not only to British Armed Forces but also to US Military personnel.  We are introducing 2-4-1 entry and 10% discount on all children’s birthday party bookings on production of Military ID.

The Heroe’s Welcome logo will be prominently and proudly displayed in the Funky Funhouse with immediate effect.  Our very own Funky Funhouse Mascot ‘Harry the Cat’ is looking forward to welcoming and ensuring every visiting soldier and their family receives the warmest possible Funky welcome.
